    Challenge of the Books

    Challenge of the Books is a contest for Wyoming Middle School students who love to read. The list of 12 books used for this competition is derived from the Wyoming Library Association's Indian Paintbrush nominee list. The intent of this program is to encourage students to read from these specific book lists and to engage in a fun competition.

    Challenge of the Books (CoB) Teams - A local competition is held among LMS teams, if we have more than one. We generally have three. The winning team advances to a competition with area schools like Worland, Cody, Greybull, Rocky Mountain, Cloud Peak, Burlington and Thermopolis. Schools rotate who hosts the competition and there is a trophy that is passed along from year to year.

    The local Challenge of the Books will be in December 2026.

    The regional challenge will be in early 2027.

  • Library/Media Center

    The library has books, e-books, reference materials and periodicals available for staff and students.

    • The library is open from 8:00-3:45 Tuesday-Thursday and from 8:00-1:00 on Fridays.
    • Students can check out books/e-books for a two-week period.
    • Students need a pass from a teacher or the office in order to come to the library on their own.
    • Teachers may sign up to bring their entire class for various activities.
    • Library materials are ordered every two months. If you have requests, please let the library staff know.
    • Inter-library loans between district libraries may be arranged if there is a book in another building you would like to check out.
    • No fines are charged for overdue books, but students must pay for lost or damaged materials; however, patrons may be charged for lost magazines.
